In the past, land scoured away from the coastline by the currents of the Mediterranean Sea used to be replaced by sediment brought down to the delta by the River Nile, but this is no longer happening. 这段话没有明显的主题句，所以我们只能通过扫读段落来把握段落大意。在这里，主谓宾用粗体字标注出来，如下： The fertile land of the Nile delta is being eroded along Egypt's Mediterranean coast at an astounding rate, in some parts estimated at 100 meters per year.
